Hello, It's Me

As you can see, I started this blog several months ago, with lots of ideas about what I'd be writing about. And then . ..nothingThe problem I kept coming up against was this: A lot of what I thought I'd be writing about involved me - a voice actor - and my experience with AI voices, especially as it relates to assistive technology. Interesting, yes? I think so too! But I found it nearly impossible to write about without also writing about my daughter. And when it comes to my kids - their privacy is more important than my attempt at a blog. (I don't even post pictures of them on social media anymore without their permission.) And so as I was writing, I would wonder - is this fair of me to write about? And almost always, the answer was "I'm not sure." Which to me, means no.

So. Hit the pause button. Rethink everything.

It's still true that I like talking. And I like listening to other people talking. And I'm fascinated with pretty much every form of communication. And I enjoy thinking about all of it! So, I'm keeping the name, Thinking about Talking. But I'm going to cast a wider net. I'll still highlight things of interest about AI voices and assistive technology as appropriate. But I'll also be writing about things like regional accents and dialects. Requests we voice actors hear from clients when we're in a session. How the voice can change as we age. And so on. If you have something you'd like to read about, please drop me a line! I can't promise I know the topic but I love reading about new things and I'd love to research and report back to you. So I look forward to sharing little tidbits about talking in this space. Till then - take care! And happy thinking and talking.
